i have read pieces of inspiration from the cloudspotters guide..'clouds are for dreamers'...i find viewing clouds in the dawning of the day around my home holds some truth for what the day will bring.
I am always searching as i wander around- either by foot or car (which can sometimes be a little irreseponsibly dangerous) looking for a big piece of sky. That is afterall, why my partner and i chose (well, one of the reasons) to buy this house...it had an empty backyard- full of concrete- about 12 x 30m2 of it. But all i could see was sky- a big piece of sky clear of trees. The sky is filled with promise- possibilities and endless imaginings. I have been preoccupied with preserving our piece of sky- and always planting over the past 4 years smaller trees. Sky by way of contrast to the earth describes the cultural landscape-a combination of topography, buildings and how we decorate the landscape with plantings, signs, machinery and other.
The sky is a moment of promise and possibility beyond our concrete world to an ethereal otherness, it connects us and reminds me of a space that transpires time. I wonder- are these morning clouds altocumulus?! As i race outside and document this moment in the morning where its somewhere (as my son would say) between buoio and luce (dark and light) and in a minute the light has changed and the promise for the day has disappeared in the dark and light sky.
Love your cloud-dreamings sars. I've been looking skyward a lot this winter too. We've had SO many rainbows. Actually I think Hobart might just be the rainbow capital of the world!
